Exmoor National Park in West Somerset and North Devon is home to Europe’s first International Dark Sky Reserve. Thousands of more stars can be seen in the night sky from Exmoor than in most towns and cities around the world. Stood beneath Exmoor’s starry sky, free from the glow of street lamps, is an experience never forgotten.
Go stargazing on Exmoor with an experienced astronomer from Dark Sky Telescope Hire as your guide. We'll meet you at one of the stargazing locations we use on Exmoor for a grand tour of the night sky. Recommended spots are near Simonsbath TA24 7SH, Wimbleball Lake TA22 9NU and at Bossington Hill TA24 8TP. Alternatively we can come to your accommodation and run the stargazing session from there for you.
We offer 1-hour and 2-hour private stargazing experiences run exclusively for your family / friends group. Assuming some clear sky we'll begin with a laser-guided tour of the stars and constellations. On hand will be a 250mm or 300mm aperture telescope through which we'll take you on a magical journey out across the universe. Along the way we'll visit star systems, star clusters, nebulae and ancient galaxies many light years beyond our own, and our astronomer will give you the background story to each view.
