An introduction to the Solar System, delivered at your school

Spire Outreach is the educational arm of Dark Sky Telescope Hire.  Our astronomer will visit your school and deliver an interactive introduction to the Solar System.  In line with the Upper KS2 Programme, we will learn about the relationships between the Earth, Moon, and Sun, and introduce the other major bodies of the Solar System. With this new knowledge the class can create a scale model of the Solar System, and learn how the larger bodies interact.

The session includes both taught and interactive content, and is completely dark sky and weather independent, allowing us to offer the session year-round.  All resources for the sessions are provided by Spire Outreach, with no special or extra equipment required by the school. To accommodate the space available, the model can be scaled from classroom to sports field size. Our session is designed to run for approximately one hour, but can be adjusted according to your own lesson lengths.
